I BOAT NY HARBOR - ABOUT US I'm a Member of the Safe Wakes Coalition and the Passenger Vessels and Education Subcommittees of Harbor Ops. I skipper/own the charter yacht Prelude, a 54' ketch, and broker all the charter yachts in NY Harbor. I've lived on board at W. 79th St Boat Basin for 36 years. I've boated in most of the harbors from Venezuela to Canada and I believe NY Harbor with its wakes, wide canal characteristics and commercial/recreational mix has unique problems. The goal of this website is to educate recreational boaters on boat handling and wakes mitigation in a mixed-use harbor. This website will also be used as a trial balloon for the 3-year pilot project iboatnjnyharbor of the Harbor Ops Education Subcommittee. Ed Bacon
If you're using this website and it's of value to you, please contribute toward the next steps. Any contribution of $10 and up would be appreciated. I have very shallow pockets and need $ to develop the flyers and gain the attention of NY Harbor recreational boaters If, because of your professional position, you do not want to have your name listed, I'll list you as DEEP BOAT.
