I BOAT NY HARBOR - CURRENTS AND TIDES This month's tides at the Battery Times of high tides and low tides vary by location in NY Harbor. For example, high tide at W. 79th Street Boat Basin is 25-30 minutes later than high tide at the Battery. Today's water levels at the Battery To change the Time Zone from GMT to local time, click the "Local (LST/LDT)" button and then click the "View Plot" button. Differences between low and high tides water levels in the harbor are 3' to 8' depending on the moon, sun, recent rainfall and local wind conditions. The red Observed line shows the actual water level. Subtract the red low tide level from the red high tide level. If the difference is 5.5' or more, expect strong currents.
Present current flow is shown. Use the Animated Control Image Panel's VCR-like buttons to look at future current flows. Press the PLAY button to start the animation.
