I skipper/own the charter yacht Prelude, a 54' ketch, and broker all the charter yachts in NY Harbor. I've lived on board at W. 79th St Boat Basin for 40 years. I've boated in most of the harbors from Venezuela to Canada and I believe NY Harbor with its wakes, wide canal characteristics and commercial/recreational mix has unique problems. The goal of this website is to educate recreational boaters on boat handling, wakes mitigation, emergencies and security in a mixed-use urban harbor.
